The Blessed Life #2 - A Life of Giving and Receiving

The Blessed Life is a life of giving and receiving. It’s a life of breathing in and out. Both elements are necessary for health!

Jesus talked about money 16 of 38 parables. The reason is that the heart issues that revolve around how we handle our money are so significant. God is not after our money - He’s after our heart. Once our heart is right, God can do amazing things for us and through us.

Ephesians 1:3

God is a God who blesses. It’s a simple truth that seems to get lost. His nature is to bless, to help, to enable.

1 Peter 3:9

You were called for the very purpose that you might inherit a blessing. When we inherit, we are born into something. Earning an inheritance is like earning a blessing – it’s not necessary!

We are blessed to be a blessing. My desire to live blessed is to enable me to be a blessing to others.

Philippians 4:14-19

1. Get Giving and Receiving in your Spirit (verses 14-15)

Get giving & receiving in your spirit. Life flows in and out. If you want to grow in God, start ministering. If you want to grow in friendships, start giving. I’m not receiving to keep – I’m receiving to give. The concept of sowing and reaping is God’s idea. We must believe for our receiving so we can enlarge our giving.

Luke 6:38

You decide the standard of living by deciding your standard of giving. You can’t give what you don’t have!

2. Giving Increases Your Account with God (verses 16-17)

The world system is exactly opposite of the Kingdom of God. In the world, we gain by keeping. But with God, our account grows when we give.

Acts 10:1-4

Cornelius built a memorial to God through his prayers and alms and God was moved to act on his behalf!

3. Giving is an Act of Worship (verse 18)

The worship aspect of giving is so essential. It’s not just a business transaction with God – it’s a worshipful matter of the heart.

Malachi 3:10

Tithing is our way of saying, “God, I put you first.” He’s above all other things in our lives.

Giving and receiving work as a lifestyle. Get into flow of the Blessed Life – the life of giving and receiving.
