The Big Center - Joy #3

Philippians 1:12-21

For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain. -Philippians 1:21

However we fill in the blank – to live is ________ -- will determine our perspective on everything else that happens to us. We evaluate everything from what we choose as center. We might choose money, success, family or our job. Everything in our lives will be affected by the center that we choose. If we don’t choose Christ as the center we will have an off-center life.

God’s plan for this universe is for each person to have Jesus at the center of their life.

He made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His kind intention which He purposed in Him with a view to an administration suitable to the fullness of the times, that is, the summing up of all things in Christ, things in the heavens and things upon the earth. -Ephesians 1:9

By Him all things were created, in the heavens and on the earth, both visible and invisible. The same God who created what we see, created what we don’t see. He has total authority over it all by creator’s rights.

The world we see has constant intersection with a world we don’t see. Connecting with the unseen through individual prayer and worship is essential for living well.

And He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. -Colossians 1:17

Relationships, work, money, resources, ideas, wisdom are all created by Jesus. What if we all begin to think about Jesus on a different scale? He created it all and since it’s all created for him and by him and through him and he is the exact image of God, Jesus has all the answers that you need for life.

When we reduce Jesus to just a religious figure, we are missing the big center. We think he has the answers for only the religious section of our lives. We see him as holy but not really smart about real life. Jesus knows how to make everything work – not just the religious parts of life.

He is the representation of God’s nature. Jesus is the prototype to a whole new way of living.

It’s a good idea to seek Jesus first, not because it’s a religious rule but because all creation is personal. It flows from a person. When we connect with the person it all came from, we are connecting with the first one - the source.

Jesus is the big center.

He is also head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the first-born from the dead; so that He Himself might come to have first place in everything. -Colossians 1:18

When we don’t see the big picture, the small pictures run our lives and small pictures become big when we are off center.

Every arena of life is better when Jesus is at the center. Have you decided to make Jesus the center of your life?
