I Love My Church (So I Serve)
I Love My Church: Serving
1 Corinthians 12:4-7 Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are varieties of ministries, and the same Lord. And there are varieties of effects, but the same God who works all things in all persons. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.
I’m grateful to God for variety. We all have different personalities and different interests. Some of us are detailed and some are random. Some are creative and some are technical. Some are people-oriented and some are task-oriented.
We have gifts, grace-given aptitudes, as well as ministries, serving capacities, and effects of those gifts and ministries. The gifts, ministries and effects are given to us to give away to others for the good for the Kingdom.
Romans 1:11 For I long to see you in order that I may impart some spiritual gift to you, that you may be established.
1 Timothy 4:14 Do not neglect the spiritual gift within you, which was bestowed upon you through prophetic utterance with the laying on of hands by the presbytery.
Don’t neglect your gift! Pay attention to your gift – locate, develop and use it.
1 Peter 4:10 As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God
Your gifting is your path to greatness and is your greatest contribution to the planet, to God, for His purpose, to His people. You are uniquely qualified to make a contribution that no one else can make.
Now strip away every excuse you might have built up as to why you can’t be involved in your church. Make yourself of uncommon value. You are not too old or too young – everyone has something to offer the Kingdom of God!
You have something to give that makes a difference. Don’t become just a church consumer, be a Christ-filled contributor.
You will find yourself and your gifting and your purpose when you find God.
