Easter = Hope

Easter = Hope

How do you really feel about your future? Do you have hope?

Hope is an expectation that the future will be greater than our present or past situation. Hope is oxygen to the soul.

Hebrews 6:19 This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast and one which enters within the veil

Hope is all about our outlook on the future and is conditioned by our experiences in the past. It can be easy to lose hope.

Romans 15:13 Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

God wants us to be able to abound in hope. Not just a trickle of hope - He abounds in hope. Don’t ever doubt God’s plans for your future is good.

Hope knows God makes somebodies out of nobodies.

Romans 4:17 We call Abraham “father” not because he got God’s attention by living like a saint, but because God made something out of Abraham when he was a nobody.

We love nobodies at The Rock Church. Within each nobody is a great somebody. God wants to make a somebody out of you.

2. Hope sees a new future.

Romans 4:17 Abraham was first named “father” and then became a father because he dared to trust God to do what only God could do: raise the dead to life.

We don't just accept things as they are and try to build out of that, we see things as they can be

and build from there. Abraham dared to trust God to do what only God could do: raise the dead to life.

3. Hope knows God can make something out of nothing with a word.

What words have been attached to you? Words like loser, hopeless, lonely, divorced, failure?

Let God rename you! God wants to give us new names like forgiven, peace, blessed, grace, joy, favor.

4.Hope lives on the basis of what God can do, not on the basis of what you can do.

Romans 4:18 When everything was hopeless, Abraham believed anyway, deciding to live not on the basis of what he saw he couldn’t do but on what God said he would do.

Live a God-empowered life. It’s not about what you can do for God, but about what He’s already done for you.

5. Hope runs in the family.

Romans 4:18 And so he was made father of a multitude of peoples. God himself said to him, “You’re going to have a big family, Abraham!

Join the family of hope. It all starts with allowing God to be your Father.
